Our Program In Action
Quick-change lathe tooling can be expensive to purchase due to the technology of the shank itself. Carbide Tool Services recently worked with an auto maker in the Midwest to reduce tooling costs by implementing a full scale indexable tool repair program. The program helped the manufacturer efficiently gather and ship all of their quick-change tooling so it could be sent in for quoting and repair. In addition to the “normal” indexable cutting tool repair program, Carbide Tool Services helped to re-size some of the pocketed tooling to utilize reground inserts. Having the ability to re-use these indexable inserts was a major cost savings for the end user. The re-sizing project saved the customer nearly $100,000 annually and overall the indexable tool repair program has captured $200,000 each year in savings.
